Terps Crack Top 25 at No. 18

Sept. 7, 2009

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The undefeated University of Maryland women's soccer team, fresh off its 1-0 victory over traditional powerhouse Santa Clara on Sept. 4, entered the Soccer America Top 25 at No. 18 this week.

For the Terps this is their first time being ranked among the top 25 since finishing the 2004 regular season with a No. 19 ranking. Last season, Maryland received votes in the top 25 poll after opening the season with a 5-0 win over George Mason, but never cracked the actual poll.

The 5-0 Terrapins are off to their best start to a season since the 1996 team opened that year with a 14-0-1 records. The Terps are one of six ACC schools ranked in the Soccer America Top 25 and are one of just four teams in the ACC that remains undefeated.

Maryland looks to continue its hot start to 2009 on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when it travels to local rival American for a 4 p.m. game at Reeves Field.
