
Terps Win Lady Pirate Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Sophomore Christine Shimel used a third-round 69 to earn the lowest score of all individuals and the University of Maryland women's golf team won the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina University, Tuesday.
In second place after rounds one and two, Shimel finished with an overall score of 212, one under par, to win the individual title. Jessica Hollandsworth finished tied for third at 217 after starting the day in sixth place. Hayley Brown used a 223 overall to finish tied for 19th. Kerri Connolly finished two strokes behind Brown to tie for 27th while Hilary Lawson moved up from 62nd to 37th, thanks to a 74 on Tuesday.
As a team, Maryland held its first-place lead, finishing the event at 876. The host Pirates of East Carolina finished in second, at 881 while Augusta State ended Tuesday in third at 887.
Both Shimel and Hollandsworth were named to the Lady Pirate All-Tournament team for their performances.
