
O'Donnell To Be Honored As Top Finalist

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Katie O'Donnell of the Maryland field hockey team (12-1, 4-0 ACC) will be honored Tuesday night as a top finalist for the Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year award.
O'Donnell, her family, athletics director Kevin Anderson, and the Maryland coaching staff will be in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel for the annual Salute to Women In Sports banquet, where the award winner will be announced.
O'Donnell is one of five top finalists for the award. She is joined by former Terrapin lacrosse player Caitlyn McFadden, USA Softball star Jennie Finch, Olympic hockey gold medalist Meghan Agosta, and Betsey Armstrong, goalkeeper for the U.S. Water Polo team.
Past winners of the award include Olympic beach volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor, basketball stars Sue Bird, Lisa Leslie, Diana Taurasi and Sheryl Swoopes, as well as soccer star Mia Hamm and tennis players Serena and Venus Williams. Maryland will play at No. 19 Old Dominion Friday at 5 p.m. in Norfolk, Va. The Terps will return home to face Delaware at 1 p.m. Sunday at Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park. Both games will be broadcast live on WMUCSports.com.
