COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The top-ranked Maryland field hockey team (16-1, 5-0 ACC) will play host to No. 10 Louisville (13-5, 5-1 Big East) Saturday at noon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Prior to the game, the Terrapins will honor their three seniors, Amanda Himmelheber, Alicia Morawski and Katie O'Donnell.
The Terps are coming off of a 3-2 win over No. 1 North Carolina last weekend. O'Donnell scored the Terrapins' first two goals, both in the first half. The Tar Heels tied it up and junior Jemma Buckley scored the game-winner with 2:27 remaining. With the win, Maryland clinched the top seed in the ACC Tournament for the third consecutive year. The Terrapins haven't lost an ACC regular season match since 2008.
Over 1,600 fans came out to see the Terps play the Tar Heels last weekend. Maryland has led the ACC in attendance for the last four years straight.
Saturday will be the first meeting between the Terps and the Cardinals, but Maryland is familiar with Louisville's Field Hockey Complex. The Terrapins won the 2005 and 2008 NCAA titles on the Cardinals' home field.
O'Donnell was named the ACC's Player of the Week for her two goals against No. 7 American and North Carolina. She also had two assists on the week and had a hand in each of the Terps' six goals scored.
Due to a home football game, fans will be charged $15 to park and are asked to park in lot 4i, the lot directly next to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Admission is free for all fans planning to attend.
The game will be broadcast live on WMUCSports.com and Gametracker live stats will also be available.
