POSITION TITLE:                Assistant Coach - Wrestling

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as  the  #2 "Best Place to Live" by Money Magazine. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assist the head coach with the organization, development and implementation of a competitive, Division I wrestling program.  Responsibilities will include assisting with scouting, recruiting, coaching, practice and dual meet scheduling, fundraising, clinics, and the administration of team budgets.  Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni, media, and the general public.  Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to full academic development of student-athletes are essential.  Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree required.  Must have at least 2 years of coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level.  Previous collegiate wrestling experience preferred.  Strong organization and communication skills necessary. Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

 

SALARY:       Commensurate with experience.
