FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sophomore Christine Shimel used a team-low 71 to jump up to fourth-place and keep the University of Maryland women's golf team in the top-five overall Monday at the 33rd Annual Pat Bradley Invitational in Fort Myers, Fla.
Shimel started Monday tied for 14th, but her two-under-par 71 helped the Kennet Square, Pa. native jump up 10 spots to fourth, tied with Western Michigan's Britney Hamilton and Cincinnati's Olivia Dose.
Junior Jessica Hollandsworth jumped from 10th to tied for eight thanks to her second straight 73. Sophomore Hayley Brown used a Round Two 75 to improve from 25th to a tie for 22nd. Seniors Hilary Lawson and Kerri Connolly finished in ties for 26th and 46th, respectively.
North Texas finished Tuesday with a round-best 294 to overtake Western Michigan as the leader after Monday's Round Two. Daytona State remained in second place thanks, in part, to the play of Mitsuki Katahira, whose back-to-back 69's kept her in sole possession of first place, individually. Western Michigan rounds out the top-three with a 294, just one stroke ahead of the fourth-place Maryland Terrapins.
The Pat Bradley Invitational will wrap up Tuesday with Round Three's shotgun start, beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by a trophy presentation at 1:30.
