WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -
Top-seeded Maryland will take the field Friday at 4 p.m. at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest. They will face the No. 5 seed Wake Forest in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.
Friday's game will be broadcast live on WMUCSports.com and fans can watch live on the ACC Network at TheACC.com.
The Terrapins (17-1, 5-0 ACC) beat the Demon Deacons (9-8, 1-4 ACC) 5-3 earlier this year in Winston-Salem. ACC Freshman of the Year Jill Witmer scored twice in the win to later nab ACC Player of the Week honors. Maryland and Wake Forest met in last year's ACC Seminfinals round as well. The Terps won 3-2 to advance to the title game.
Wake Forest beat the No. 4 seed Boston College 2-1 in the final minute of overtime. Kari Walkley scored the game-winner for the Demon Deacons to advance.
Earlier this week, senior Katie O'Donnell was named the ACC's Offensive Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive year. She is the first field hockey student-athlete to earn the honor in all four years, and is just the third student-athlete in any sport to be honored in four consecutive years.
Head coach Missy Meharg was voted the ACC's Coach of the Year for the sixth time in her career and second consecutive year. Meharg led the Terrapins to their second straight 5-0 ACC regular season record.
Harriet Tibble, Megan Frazer and Jemma Buckley were all named to the All-ACC team.
The winner of Friday's game will advance to the ACC Championship game, which will be played at noon Friday. Sunday's championship game will be broadcast live at noon on the ACC's regional network, RSN, which includes FSN South, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, and New England Sports Network.
