Terps Hold Annual Banquet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's water polo team held its annual awards banquet on Oct. 31 to celebrate the 2010 season.

Head coach Carl Salyer presented the awards at Heritage Hall in the Comcast Center.

The Terps honored included:

  • Allison Campbell (Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player)
  • Shannon Simerly (Terrapin Leader of the Year)
  • Shelby Reyes (Terrapin Defender of the Year)
  • Meghan Powers (Most Valuable Player)
  • Callan Rowe (Terrapin Sportsmanship Award)
  • Allie Hill (Most Improved Terrapin)

    Following the awards banquet, family, friends and alumni were invited to attend the annual Red-Black scrimmage.

    Alumni participating included Laura Nolan-Locher, Allie Houseal, Blaise Stanicic, Christen Vagts, Jill Lau, Colleen McShane and Jessica Evans.

    With a little help from current members of the team, the alumni squad outlasted the remaining varsity players, 18-15.

    The alumni squad was led by Stanicic who scored three goals and Vagts who netted a pair. Nolan-Locher added a goal and Allie Houseal managed two steals as well as two assists for the alumni squad.
