
Terps Signee Shines in Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland signee Maddie Murphy was named MVP at the America's Finest City Invitational with her Coronado High water polo team in California.
She scored two goals to contribute to Coronado's 10-4 win over El Toro in the tournament championship game on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Murphy posted 11 goals, 18 assists and 10 steals in the five-game tournament.
The San Diego Union-Tribune tabbed her one of its high school athletes of the week on Wednesday.
Murphy signed with Maryland in November and will join the team in the fall.
Murphy received the 2009 coaches award, earned varsity letters in both swimming and water polo, and CIF victories in 2008 and 2009.
On Nov. 8 2025, Malik Washington rushed for a career-high 164 yards at Rutgers.
