LEWISBURG, Pa. -
The Maryland water polo team extended its winning streak to four games with a convincing 9-3 victory over Gannon University Saturday evening at the Bison Invitational.
Allison Beck, Christine Goetsch and Callan Rowe all scored twice, powering an offense which hit the back of the net six times in the second half to break open a one-goal game.
The Terps offense also cashed in on Gannon miscues, going 4-for-5 during 6-on-5 situations.
"We drew a lot of advantage situations," Maryland ahead coach Carl Salyer said. "Ally (Beck) and Shannon (Simerly) each scored on 5-meter attempts."
Elina Goldenberg and Carly Hoshko also added goals for the Terps.
Maryland got a solid defensive effort with sophomore Leanne Spedding, making her first-career start in net, blocking nine shots and allowing the Knights to score just twice in seven man-advantage chances.
Maryland closes out play in Bucknell's two-day tournament Sunday. The Terps will face Marist at 11 a.m. and Wagner at 2:45 p.m.
