COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
Two current and former Maryland field hockey players are finishing a two week tour through Argentina with the U.S. National team. While in Argentina, the Americans defeated two of the top national teams in the world - the teams from Belgium and Chile.The Americans' participation in this test series is preparation for the 2010 AtaHolding Women's World Cup Qualifier in San Diego, CA, scheduled for March 26 to April 3, 2010 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center at Chula Vista, Calif.
In game four of the event, Team USA beat Belgium 4-0, with the help of current Terp Katie O'Donnell, who scored a hat trick in the game.
In game five of the series, the Americans took on Chile and won 2-0. Three minutes into the game, O'Donnell scored again to keep her hot streak alive.
Former Terps Lauren Powley and Sara Silvetti are also in Argentina. Keli Smith is also member of the national team.
