
O'Donnell Heads To Argentina With U.S. Team

CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Maryland field hockey player Katie O'Donnell will head to South America next week to play with the U.S. National team in Argentina. O'Donnell, the Terrapins' 2009 leader in points and assists, and the National team will play four games against the Argentinian team, one against the team from Belgium and one against the Chilean team from Feb. 13-21.
Team USA's first two games will be Feb. 13 and 14 in Mendoza, Argentina against Las Leonas, the Argentinian team, followed by a third on Feb. 16 in Cordoba, Argentina. On Feb. 18, the American team will face off against the Belgian team and on Feb. 20 will once again play the Argentinians. They will conclude their trip with a match against the Chilean team on Feb. 21.
O'Donnell is one of four Terrapins on the 24-athlete Team USA roster. She is joined by former Terps Lauren Powley, Sara Silvetti and Keli Smith.
O'Donnell has been at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. for the last few weeks in order to train with the National team. O'Donnell won the 2009 Honda Sports Award in December for her performance in her 2009 junior season.
