PRINCETON, N.J. -
Jessica Ernst scored a season-high three goals and leading scorer Allison Campbell added two for Maryland but it was not enough to overcome a third-period outburst by Princeton which downed the Terrapins, 11-6, on Saturday.
The Tigers (14-8, 2-1) scored five goals in the third period to extend a 6-3 halftime lead and help them pick up their second CWPA Southern Division win.
"We didn't play badly, but just not as aggressively as they did," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said.
Princeton tallied four first-period goals, but Maryland (12-12, 1-2) tried to stay close with a pair of its own in the opening eight minutes.
"We let Princeton jump out on us and we were playing catch up the rest of the day."
Shelby Reyes (first half) and Rachel Stein (second half) split time in net with each blocking three Princeton shots. Carly Hoshko also had a goal for the Terps.
Maryland is off until Friday when it begins a five-game homestand, including three key division games.
The Terps will play host to George Washington at 7 p.m. Friday then welcome Princeton (7 p.m. Saturday, and Bucknell (2 p.m. Sunday, April 18).
