NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Maryland's Alex Wujciak was named to the watch list for the 2010 Lott Trophy on Thursday in an announcement by former NFL All-Pro Ronnie Lott and the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation.

A two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection (first team in 2009; second team in 2008), Wujciak had 131 tackles in 2009 and ranked eighth nationally in that category (10.9 per game). He has recorded double-digit tackles in 17 of his last 22 games.

The senior's 264 career tackles is first among active players in the ACC. In addition, Wujciak's 10.6 career tackle-per-game mark is tops nationally among active performers.

Sponsored by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, the award is given to a player who exhibit's the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Voters for the award include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, members of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation Board of Directors, the Legends Coaches and distinguished alumni of various schools around the nation.

The winner, who will be announced at the annual black-tie gala in December, receives $25,000 for his school's general scholarship fund. Three runner-ups each receive $5,000.

In six years, the IMPACT Foundation has now donated more than $750,000 to various charities.
