Maryland Falls To No. 2 Virginia

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team dropped the second game of a doubleheader Friday evening to No. 2 Virginia, 27-4.
John Barr and Kenny Swab had four hits apiece and Steven Proscia hit two home runs to lead the Cavaliers, who scored 14 runs between the second and fourth innings.
Virginia starter Robert Morey (6-2) went seven innings and allowed two runs on three hits to earn the win.
Eric Potter (2-7) took the loss for Maryland (15-27, 4-16 ACC), giving up 10 runs on 12 hits in three innings.
Alfredo Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the first inning, giving the Terps a brief 1-0 lead.
But Virginia, which improved to 33-9 and 14-6 in the ACC, took control of the game after that.
The Terps and Cavaliers play the final game of the three-game series Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is free as part of Maryland Day.
