The Maryland water polo team will be seeded seventh at the 2010 CWPA Eastern Championship after receiving an at-large bid Monday to the eight-team tournament which will be held this weekend in College Park.
The Terrapins (14-17), who finished third in last weekend's CWPA Southern Division Championship, will face second-seeded Hartwick at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium.
The winner of that contest will face either third-seeded Indiana or No. 6 seed Brown at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Seventh-ranked Michigan earned the top seed for the round robin tournament. The Wolverines play No. 8 seed Harvard at 11:30 .m. Friday in the opening game of the three-day event.
Fourth-seeded Bucknell and No. 5 seed Princeton round out the field.
The Eastern Championship field was selected by a panel of coaches. The Northern, Southern and Western Division champions and runner-ups earned automatic bids, while two teams secured spots based as at-large selections. Harvard was the second at-large choice.
The championship game is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are priced at $13 for a one-day pass and $25 for a three-day pass. Tickets are available for purchase one hour prior to the first game of each day.
The winner of the CWPA Eastern Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament which will be held May 14-16 in San Diego.
