POSITION VACANCY
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coach, Field Hockey
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics
CATEGORY: Non-tenured Faculty Contract (112250)
UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is among the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #4 "Best Place to Live" by Money Magazine. The Athletic Program has won 18 national championships over the last 15 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are in their respective Top 25 nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the head coach with the organization, development and implementation of a nationally competitive, Division I field hockey program. Responsibilities will include assisting with scouting, recruiting, coaching, coordinating team travel, practice and game scheduling, tracking the academic progress of student-athletes, and serving as liaison for media, marketing, alumni, and other groups/organizations. Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni, media, and the general public.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of three years of Division I coaching experience or competitive international coaching/playing experience required. Strong communication, organizational, administrative and computer skills required. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations, as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes, is essential.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
