UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as  the  #4 “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.

 

Maryland Athletics has won 19 national championships over the last 16 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Maryland Men's Lacrosse program is rich in tradition and success, as evidenced by its 2 NCAA National Championships, 9 appearances in the NCAA Championship Game, and 25 ACC Tournament Championships. The team competes in beautiful Byrd Stadium, host of 10 NCAA Championship Games, which seats approximately 55,000 following the addition of mezzanine seating and luxury suites in 2009. Coaches' offices are located in the 440,000 square foot, on-campus Comcast Center, built in 2002.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Lead, organize and direct all aspects of a nationally competitive, Division I Men's Lacrosse program.  Specific responsibilities include identifying and recruiting exceptional athletically and academically qualified student-athletes; scheduling and conducting practice sessions and regular season contests; developing, implementing, and enforcing team rules; overseeing team travel, budget, student-athlete eligibility and academic progress; participating in fund raising and public relations activities; and promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics program. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations, as well as dedication to the full academic and social development of men's lacrosse student-athletes are essential.  Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree required. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated successful coaching experience in lacrosse. Preference will be given to candidates with experience at the Division I collegiate level and with head coaching experience. Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills required.

 

SALARY:         Commensurate with experience. Competitive nationally.
