GREENSBORO, N.C. - Christina Nelson, Greg Kelsey and Alex Lundy were named Wednesday to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic outdoor track and field teams, as announced by the league office.
Student-athletes must have earned a 3.00 GPA during the spring semester and own the same cumulative mark to be eligible for selection to the All-ACC Academic team.
It was Kelsey's second selection to the academic squad. Earlier this season, Nelson earned an ACC Postgraduate Scholarship.
Nelson, a senior from Little Silver, N.J., had the Terrapins' best marks of the indoor season in the 1,000 and 3,000 meters. She qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships in four events and ran the lead leg on the school record distance medley relay. Nelson, who majored in kinesiology, had Maryland's best marks of the outdoor season in the 1,500 and 3,000.
Kelsey, a junior from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., scored for the Terrapins at the ACC Outdoor Championships in both the steeplechase and the 5,000. He ran the steeplechase at the NCAA East preliminary championship. Indoors, the kinesiology major was the anchor on Maryland's school record distance medley relay team. He ranks among the best all-time indoors in the 5,000 and outdoors in the steeplechase.
Lundy, a junior biology major from Littleton, Colo., qualified as an individual for the NCAA Cross Country Nationals for the second straight season. He was sixth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in cross country. Indoors he had the Terps' best times of the year in the 3,000 and 5,000 (2nd-best all-time). Outdoors, his mark in the 10,000 was the sixth-best all-time and was Maryland's best 10K mark since 1984.
