COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland field hockey team announced its 2010 schedule Wednesday. The Terrapins will play host to a rematch of the 2009 national championship game against North Carolina and will compete against all four teams they faced in last year's NCAA Tournament run. The 2010 NCAA Semifinals and Finals will be played in College Park Nov. 19-21.

"The 2010 schedule is one of the most competitive in the country," head coach Missy Meharg said. "Having the opportunity to compete with all of our competition in the 2009 postseason run puts Maryland field hockey in a position to play for an ACC championship and an NCAA championship."

The Terps will host three ACC matchups in College Park. They will also welcome Big East competitors in Rutgers and Louisville to the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex, while keeping annual matchups with Old Dominion and Michigan.

"We are excited about the addition of Big East competition in Rutgers and Louisville and about maintaining our home and away games with Old Dominion and Michigan," Meharg said.

The Terps will open up in Philadelphia Aug. 27 with a game at Drexel, a rematch of last year's NCAA second round game. They will play Villanova Aug. 29 in Spring City, Pa.

In its home opener, Maryland will play perennial power Old Dominion Sept. 3 at 7 p.m., before hosting the Terrapin Invitational Sept. 11-12. New Hampshire, American and Rutgers will all head to College Park for the annual event.

The Terrapins will open their ACC schedule when they play host to Boston College Sept. 18. Before going on a four-game road trip, Maryland will play UMass Sept. 19 in College Park.

The Terps open their string of road games at Wake Forest Sept. 25, followed by a trip to Princeton Sept. 28. The Terrapins beat the Tigers 7-5 in last year's NCAA Semifinals. On Oct. 1, Maryland will play at Virginia in a rematch of last year's ACC Championship game, before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. to take on the Wolverines Oct. 3.

The Terrapins will play host to the Duke Blue Devils Oct. 9 and the Pacific Boxers Oct. 10. Friday, Oct. 15, Maryland will play at Old Dominion.

Maryland will close its 2010 regular season with a string of four home games, beginning with Delaware Oct. 17 and American Oct. 20. The Terrapins will play ACC rival North Carolina Oct. 23 and will close out the season Oct. 30 against Louisville.

The ACC Tournament will be Nov. 4-7 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The NCAA Tournament first and second rounds will be played at campus sites Nov. 13-14, with the 2010 NCAA Semifinals and Finals in College Park Nov. 19-21.
