GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Torrey Smith and Alex Wujciak were among 23 players voted to the 2010 Preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference Football team, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Voting for the team was conducted by the media at the annual ACC Football Kickoff, which was held Sunday and Monday in Greensboro, N.C.
Smith was voted to the preseason team at two positions - wide receiver and specialist - after setting the ACC single-season kickoff return yards record each of the last two years and posting 61 catches for 824 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore. Smith was a second-team choice at both positions after last season.
Wujciak, who ranks first in the NCAA FBS in career tackles per game (10.6) among active players, has posted back-to-back seasons with at least 125 tackles. The senior was named second team All-ACC in 2008 and first team after last year's 131-tackle performance.
North Carolina led all ACC schools with five players selected to the team. All five were defensive players.
Virginia Tech, the preseason pick to win the league title, had one selection - running back Ryan Williams.
The Terps open preseason camp on Tuesday, Aug. 10. Freshmen are scheduled to arrive on campus on Sunday, Aug. 8 for orientation with the varsity reporting the following day.
