POSITION TITLE: Senior Associate Athletics Director, Administration
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA)
CATEGORY: Exempt, Full-time (100033)
UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is among the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #2 “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine. The Athletic Program has won 20 national championships over the last 16 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently, 92 of the University's academic programs are in their respective Top 25 nationally.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Associate Athletics Director reports directly to the Director of Athletics as a member of the Athletic Department's senior management team. This individual is responsible for overseeing the marketing, video services, and ticket office units to ensure their effective operation while remaining in strict compliance with established budgetary guidelines and providing outstanding customer service. This individual will: (1) represent the department and the Director of Athletics in interactions with various campus groups, external constituents, and corporate entities; serve as a proactive sport supervisor of assigned varsity sports, including overseeing budgets, recruiting, academics, compliance, and all other related issues if desired and; respond to questions and comments of student-athletes, alumni, boosters, campus faculty, staff, and guests on behalf of the Director of Athletics related to his/her units.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree strongly preferred. Position requires at least 7 years of successful administrative experience in a collegiate athletic program, business, or other athletic related organization. Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills required. Proven ability to manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely fashion. Must be a self-starter with an excellent work ethic and appreciation for the value of a Division I athletic program to the University community. Proven ability to lead and motivate others to achieve in a team oriented environment.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
