SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. - The Maxwell Football Club announced the watch lists for its two postseason awards Monday and a pair of Maryland players are candidates.

Senior running back Da'Rel Scott is on the watch list for the Maxwell Award, honoring the top college player in the country, while senior linebacker Alex Wujciak was placed on the preseason list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which is presented to the nation's top defensive player.

Scott is hoping to return to his 2008 form when he rushed for 1,133 yards (seventh-highest single-season total in school history) en route to first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors. He played in just seven games last season due to a broken forearm, rushing for 425 yards.

Wujciak is a consensus preseason first team All-ACC choice and already on the watch lists for the Nagurski Trophy (top defensive player), Lott Trophy (top impact defender) and Lombardi Award (top performer who plays near the line of scrimmage).

Wujciak is a two time all-conference pick. He had 131 tackles last year and ranked eighth nationally in that category (10.9 per game). Wujciak is first among active players in the ACC with 264 career tackles.

Semifinalists for the Maxwell and Bednarik Awards will be announced on Nov. 8 and three finalists for each award will be announced Nov. 22. The watch list candidates have been chosen by the Maxwell Football Club's Selection Committee and the Maxwell Club reserves the right to make additions and subtractions to these lists as the 2010 season unfolds.
