The Maryland field hockey team, ranked No. 2 in the latest Kookaburra / NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll, will open Atlantic Coast Conference play this weekend, as it hosts No. 11 Boston College Saturday at 1 p.m. The Terps, who are currently 5-0 on the year, will play No. 20 Massachusetts Sunday at 2 p.m.
Heading into this weekend's games, senior Katie O'Donnell will look to break the ACC's career points record. She is currently tied with former Virginia player Meridith Thorpe with 230 career points. In the Terps' two games last weekend, O'Donnell had 12 points on three goals and six assists. She broke the ACC's career assist record last season with 74 and now has 84.
Boston College comes to College Park with a 6-1 record this year. The Eagles won six straight to start the year, before falling to No. 15 Boston University 1-0 last weekend.
Massachusetts is 3-3 on the year and broke into the latest rankings this week at No. 20. The Minutewomen knocked off No. 4 Connecticut 1-0 last weekend.
The Terrapins are coming off of two strong wins last weekend over New Hampshire and Rutgers in the Terrapin Invitational. Seven different Terrapins scored in the team's 7-0 win over New Hampshire Saturday. Sophomore Megan Frazer had her second career hat trick in the Terps' 8-1 win over Rutgers Sunday.
