The University of Maryland volleyball team begins Atlantic Coast Conference play Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Boston College. The Terrapins will look to defeat the Eagles in the conference opener for a third straight season.
The Terps finished non-conference play with a 9-3 record, head coach Tim Horsmon's best start since arriving in College Park in 2008. Maryland won two tournaments in non-conference play at the Spring Hill Suites at Arundel Mills Maryland and Terrapin invitationals.
Junior middle blocker Lisa Scott has overcome injuries to lead Maryland in non-conference competition. The Terrapin Invitational MVP, Scott leads the Terrapins with a .357 attack percentage. Her 15 blocks in Maryland's last three games are also a team high.
Also among the leaders for the Terps is freshman outside hitter Mary Cushman. The two-time New York State Gatorade Player of the Year and top-100 recruit is the team leader in kills with 125.
Sophomore Remy McBain leads Maryland in assists with 399 and has already recorded five double-doubles in assists and digs.
Boston College enters the match on a three-game winning streak. The Eagles are 8-5 overall and have won eight of their last 10.
The Eagles have a pair of players with over 100 kills. Junior Brennan Clark leads Boston College with 113.
Coming into this week, Maryland and Boston College were first and second, respectively, in service aces in the ACC. The Terps averaged a league-best 1.69 per set, followed by the Eagles at 1.62.
Maryland has the advantage in the all-time series, 7-4, having won three of the past four against the Eagles.
