COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland head coach Randy Edsall announced Thursday that Tom Brattan will return to the football staff.
Brattan, who has spent the last 10 years as the Terps offensive line coach, is the third assistant coach to be retained by Edsall, joining Don Brown (defensive coordinator/defensive backs) and Lee Hull (wide receivers).
Offensive line has been one of the team's strengths since 2001, producing seven first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference performers and a handful of other players honored by both the league and national media.
Brattan, who has over 30 years of coaching experience, has also prepared a number of players for the next level as six of his former Maryland pupils were on NFL rosters last season.
Paul Pinegar, who started at four positions along the line in his career, including center and right tackle in 2010, earned honorable mention All-ACC honors last season.
Despite losing starters Justin Gilbert and Pete DeSouza to injury during the season, the Terps ranked second in the ACC in scoring offense (32.2 points per game) and surrendered just 22 sacks which was fourth in the conference.
Brattan is scheduled to have seven offensive linemen back next season with starting experience.
