CLEMSON, S.C. - - Junior Julie Fricke finished 13th to lead the women's team to a ninth-place finish at the ACC Championships held at the Musser Farms Course.

By placing in the top-14, Fricke earned All-ACC status. It marks the first time since 1995 the Terps placed a runner in the top-14 (Kerrie Bowes) and Fricke is the eighth Terrapin all-time to be honored.

In the men's competition, freshman Kikanae Punyua posted a time of 24:23 for 32nd in only his second collegiate race. The men finished eighth with 232 points.

The women finished one place better than 2010 and dropped their score (258) by 53 points from last season. Fricke finished the 6K course in 20:46, which beat her best time of the season by 24 seconds.

Senior Ashley Cromartie finished 46th and turned in a season-best time of 21:43. Freshman Myah Hicks placed 62nd with a time of 22:16.

Also scoring for Maryland were Halsey Sinclair (83rd, 23:09.7) and Anna Roth (85th, 23:19.5).

Freshman Alex Willett turned in a season-best 24:32 on the 8K course to place 41st for the men. Senior Noam Neeman finished three seconds behind Willett to place 46th.

Also scoring for Maryland on the men's side were Craig Morgan (67th, 25:11.2) and Tyler Stump (70th, 25:14.1).

NC State won the men's title with 51 points. Florida State captured the women's championship with 20 points.

Maryland competes in two weeks in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at UMES.
