COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland volleyball head coach Tim Horsmon announced the signing of three highly-touted student-athletes Thursday into the Terps' 2012 class. All three student-athletes are ranked in PrepVolleyball's top-150, with two being in the top-50.
"I think this is one of our better recruiting classes. It is a special group and all three have the ability to be difference makers for the program," said head coach Tim Horsmon. "They are going to give us depth right away and may compete for [playing] time next year. They are program changers for us. The assistant coaches did a great job in recruiting this group. These are the type of recruiting classes we will continue to bring in, and we are excited about the future of the program with the kids we have here and the kids coming in."
The class is headlined by KelseyHrebenach, the 47th-rated player in the class of 2012, a middle blocker from Leesburg, Va., and Mackenzie Dagostino, the 49th-rated player, a setter from Tampa, Fla.
"Kelsey loves volleyball and loves Maryland. I think she is going to be a great fit for us. Athletically, she is really gifted. We are really excited about getting Kelsey," said Horsmon." "Mackenzie is a really athletic left-handed setter who set for the junior national team this past summer. We are pretty excited about what she brings to the program -- her mentality and understanding of how to play the game."
Emily Fraik, a middle blocker from Wyoming, Ohio, completes the group of three signees.
"Emily can probably play all three front-row positions," said Horsmon. "She is a quick jumper and can probably reach 10 feet 1 inch. I think she has the ability to learn how to be a back-row player. She has good touch on the ball as a serve receiver and defender."
