Hey everybody!
This week has been one really great week for our team. It was extremely busy with everyone working really hard, but we still had time to get in some fun activities!
Thursday started off as an interesting morning when everyone showed up to 80s Weight Day! Everyone had the chance to get real dressed up in their best 80s workout attire for our morning weight session. After weights, the team set out on our weekly run (in full 80s costumes) only to find out that we were going on a scavenger hunt! Running all around campus from the Co-op to the Business school following the clues created by our crafty captains, the team finally arrived at Plato's Diner for our annual team breakfast day! It was a well-welcomed surprise by all, especially the freshman who got to experience it for the first time. The food at Plato's was delicious and a great bonding experience for the whole team.
The festivities of the week did not end there. On Friday we continued our new activity of the Red vs. Black intrasquad scrimmage. It was a hard fought battle by both teams with the Grim Reapers up by 5 at half time. The Diablo Rojos did not give up and made a full-scale comeback in the second half. However, it was the Grim Reapers who won it out in the final seconds with a 15-14 victory. Stay tuned to see who will win next weeks competition!
As Saturday morning rolled around, so did our annual Alumni Game! Former waTERPolo players from many different years all came back to compete against the current team. It was a great game all around and the alumni were able to sneak in a victory. After the game we all got together for a team cookout. It was really great to be able to talk to some past players and get some insight into what their experience was like at Maryland and to also make some connections for the future.
Stay tuned waTERPolo fans for some more great news to come!
