LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Nine members of the fourth-ranked Maryland field hockey team (17-4) were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's All-Mid Atlantic Region Team, the organization announced Thursday. No other school had nine members named to its respective team.
Jemma Buckley, Megan Frazer, Katie Gerzabek, Ali McEvoy, Harriet Tibble and Jill Witmer earned First Team honors, while Maxine Fluharty, Colleen Gulick and Melissa Vassalotti nabbed Second Team honors.
It is the third honor for Frazer, second for Buckley, Tibble and Witmer, and first for Gerzabek, Fluharty, Gulick, McEvoy and Vassalotti.
The Terrapins will take on No. 2 Old Dominion (22-2) Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Louisville, Ky. in the NCAA Semifinals. The game will be shown live on NCAA.com.
This marks the Terps' 15th NCAA Semifinal appearance overall and fourth straight. They advanced to the NCAA Championship game in each of the last two years and won the 2010 title on their home field in College Park.
