WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Postgame notes following Maryland's 31-10 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Kicking Off: Maryland (2-9, 1-7 ACC) dropped its seventh straight game with a 31-10 loss to Wake Forest (6-5, 5-3 ACC) ... the Terps still lead the all-time series 42-17-1 including a 21-9-1 advantage in Winston-Salem ... the Demon Deacons have won the last three meetings at home, however ... Maryland has won nine of the last 13 in the series.

Starting Lineups: Maryland used a different defensive lineup for the 11th time in 11 games this year. With LB Alex Twine out with an injury, Demetrius Hartsfield shifted to Will LB and Lorne Goree started at Mike LB. On the offensive side, redshirt freshman OL Sal Conaboy made his first career start with Bennett Fulper unable to go due to an injury. Conaboy is the 11th freshman to start for Maryland this year.

Meggett Moves Up: With 91 rushing yards, Davin Meggett now has 2,320 in his career, moving him past Louis Carter (2,266; 1972-74) for eighth all-time on the Maryland career rushing yards list. Next on the list is Da'Rel Scott, who is seventh with 2,401 yards.

Brown Sets Mark: C.J. Brown rushed for 110 yards and now has 497 this season. That sets a new modern era (dating back to 1950) record for single-season rushing yards by a Maryland QB. The previous record was 448 by Mark Manges in 1976.

Spreading it Around: Brown spread the ball around well, matching a season high by hitting nine different receivers (also vs. Clemson, 10/15). Kevin Dorsey led the way with eight receptions for 77 yards. For the game Brown set career highs in pass completions (20), attempts (42) and passing yards (186).

Yards Per Carry: Maryland rushed 34 times for 229 yards, a season-high average of 6.7 yards per carry. The previous season high was 6.1 against Clemson (10/15). It's the third time the Terps have surpassed 200 yards on the ground (also at Georgia Tech, vs. Clemson).

Defensive Notes: Lorne Goree had 10 tackles and is averaging 7.1 per game in his seven starts ... Andre Monroe had 2.5 sacks and now owns the team lead with 5.0 on the season ... that's the most sacks in a game by a Maryland player since Shawne Merriman had 3.0 at North Carolina on 11/2/2002 ... Maryland had eight tackles for loss (38 yards).

Quick Drives: Five of Maryland's six possessions in the first half lasted less than 2:00. On their final drive of the half the Terps went 67 yards in seven plays, taking just 1:15 off the clock, to tie the game at 7-7 on C.J. Brown's 31-yard TD pass to Justus Pickett.

Streaks and Trends: OT Joe Vellano made his 24th consecutive start which leads the defense ... Demetrius Hartsfield (14) posted double-digit tackles for the sixth time in the eight games he's played this season.

Tidbits: Davin Meggett's 47-yard run in the first quarter was the longest by a Maryland running back this season ... Justus Pickett's TD reception in the second quarter was the first of his career ... with four points Nick Ferrara has 140 in his career, moving to 17th on the Maryland career scoring chart.
