COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Senior forward Jasymne Spencer of the No. 22 University of Maryland women's soccer team was named to the All-ACC second team that was released by the conference office on Thursday, November 3.
The native of Bay Shore, N.Y., becomes just the fifth player in the history of Terrapin women's soccer to be named to the All-ACC team three times. Spencer, who was a first team selection in 2009 and 2010, joins four-time honoree Kimmy Francis and three-time selections Emily Janss, Mallory Mahar and Erin Taylor.
Spencer's production (two goals and three assists) was off from her previous two seasons that saw her score a combined 20 goals, but each of her two goals proved to be game-winners.
"Congratulations to Jasmyne for once again being recognized by the coaches in our league," said Maryland head coach Brian Pensky. "As we all know, Jas is a terrific player, and has done wonderful things for our program. I am disappointed that others, in addition to Jasmyne, were not recognized, because we do have a number of student-athletes who have had a tremendous impact on our successes this fall."
Spencer and the Terrapins will have to wait until the NCAA tournament selection show on Monday, Nov. 7, to learn if they earn an at-large bid into the tournament. The field of 64 for the 2011 DI women's soccer tournament will be announced live on NCAA.com.
