Meghan Powers scored three goals to lead the Maryland water polo team to a 12-5 win over Siena Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Wolverine Invitational.
The 19th-ranked Terps (9-8) struggled in the first game of the day, falling to Iona, 12-5, a team they had defeated two weeks ago for the ECAC Championship.
The Gaels (12-3), who are receiving votes in the national poll, won for the seventh straight time behind to five goals from Maggie Wood and four from Mackenzie Mone.
"Iona came out after us and flat out beat us," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said.
But Maryland found its offensive rhythm in the nightcap as eight players hit the scoring column against Siena (4-7).
Simone Lewis and Molly Ruth found the back of the net twice each and Shelby Reyes led the defensive effort with eight saves.
"We played better offensively against Siena and did a decent job on the defensive side," Salyer said
Maryland went 2-2 in the two-day tournament having defeated Gannon, 18-7, and losing to seventh-ranked and host Michigan, 11-4, in Saturday's action.
