STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - Jessica Hollandsworth shot a school-best 144 Monday and the University of Maryland women's golf team finished Monday tied for fourth at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State.
Hollandsworth hit a par 72 in each of the first two rounds Monday, resulting in a tie for second place with 18 holes remaining. Christine Shimel is seven strokes back and tied for 22nd at 151 while Hilary Lawson is in the top-40, tied for 38th at 156. Kerri Connolly and Hayley Brown round out the Terrapin golfers at 158 and 162, respectively.
Note Dame's Becca Huffer leads the apck with a tournament-low 141 while Hollandsworth and Daytona State College's Mitsuki Katahira are in second just three strokes back. Mississippi State's Mary Gallagher holds the next best score in fourth at a one-over 145.
With a score of 609 after two rounds, the Terps are tied with UCF and East Tennessee State for fourth-best after Monday.
The Fighting Irish are in first in the team race at 591 while James Madison (603) and Michigan (606) are in second and third.
Play will resume Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. for the intercollegiat's final round.
