STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - Jessica Hollandsworth used a third-round 69 to finish in third and guide the Maryland women's golf team to a second-place finish at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State on Tuesday.
With a pair of 72's on Monday, Hollandworth entered Tuesday's final round at a par 144, but hit a three-under 69 to finish the intercollegiate at 213, the event's third-lowest score.
Teammate Christine Shimel finished strong as well by shooting a one-over 73 Tuesday to jump up 11 spots and finish tied for 11th individually. Kerri Connolly and Hilary Lawson both shot 234's over three rounds to end tied for 40th. Hayley Brown hit a 244 to round out the Terrapin team.
Daytona State College's Mitsuki Katahira won the individual title with a 210 after tying a new tournament record at 66 on Tuesday. Notre Dame's Becca Huffer placed second at 211 and East Tennessee State's Nina Muehl finished in fourth, one stroke behind Hollandsworth at 214.
As a team, Maryland rose two places to finish in sole posession of second place with an overall score of 905, 27 back of first-place Notre Dame. East Tennessee State earned third with a team score of 906.
