BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - Shelby Reyes was named the CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
Reyes posted a 3-1 record for the Terps last weekend in California. She had 11 saves, including five in the fourth quarter, in Saturday's 8-7 come-from-behind win over Cal Baptist in the Lancer Invite #2. The junior netminder also turned away two 5-meter penalty shots by CBU.
In addition, Reyes posted seven saves in a 5-2 win over Occidental later in the day. She spear-headed a scoreless stretch of more than 14 minutes from the end of the second period to midway through the fourth in the Occidental contest and recorded seven saves in Sunday's 17-4 win over Whittier.
Reyes also earned the weekly honor from the league on March 1.
With the University of Maryland on spring break this week, Reyes and the Terps are remaining out west. They will face No. 12 Cal Irvine at 7 p.m. PDT Wednesday and third-ranked USC at 5 p.m. Friday.
