LOS ANGELES -
Patricia Janco scored a game-high four goals to lead a balanced offensive attack for No. 3 USC which knocked off the Maryland water polo team 16-7 Friday evening.
Allison Campbell and Katie Ermakova led the 20th-ranked Terrapins (12-11) in the scoring column with three goals apiece.
The Trojans (13-3), who won for the 22nd consecutive time at home, also got three goals from Kaleigh Gilchrist and two from Kristen Dronberger. Seven other players scored once for them.
USC extended a 5-3 halftime lead with an eight-goal outburst in the third period, including a pair from Gilchrist.
The Trojans went on a 9-0 run from the end of the second period to the last few seconds of the third when Ermakova scored for the first time.
Shelby Reyes posted eight saves for the Terps who ended their spring break road trip with a 3-3 record. All three of the losses came to teams ranked among the top 11 in the country.
Maryland is off until Saturday, April 9 when it plays Princeton in Lewisburg, Pa. The Terps will play four games over a two-day stretch at the home of the Bucknell Bison.
