BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -
Allison Campbell was named the CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week and Molly Ruth was tabbed the freshman of the week by the league office on Tuesday.
Campbell was a standout defender in Maryland's four games over the weekend. The sophomore entered the weekend with 19 steals on the season and went on to force 26 turnovers, including a career-best nine steals in Sunday's 13-8 loss to Indiana.
Campbell also had eight steals and three goals in Friday's 10-7 Southern Division win over George Washington. She was a plus-20 in steal-to-turnover ratio in the four games.
Ruth doubled her season-point production in Maryland's four games. She tallied nine points, including a career-high five in Friday's win over George Washington, over the weekend after having four in her first eight games. Ruth had a career-best four goals vs. the Colonials and chipped in two steals in the four games.
