LEWISBURG, Pa. - Ally Beck matched a career high with five goals to help the Maryland water polo team rebound from a loss earlier in the day to Indiana with a convincing 15-9 victory over Bucknell Sunday afternoon.

The Terps (13-13) jumped on the Bison early with five goals in the each of the first two periods to take a commanding 10-3 halftime lead, but had to hold off a late charge.

"We came out strong," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said. "It was a physical game and we handled it well, turning it into some offense. However, we let down in the third quarter."

Bucknell (10-13) scored the first four goals of the second half to cut the deficit to 10-7, but Beck hit the back of the net twice and Katie Ermakova added a marker over a six-minute stretch to give Maryland a 14-8 lead with under 3:00 left in the game.

Rachel Stein went the distance in net and recorded 10 saves.

"Rachel did a good job in net and allowed to give Shelby [Reyes] a break," Salyer said.

Maryland was doomed by a slow start against 12th-ranked Indiana (19-11) as the Hoosiers jumped out to a 2-0 lead 90 seconds into the game.

"You can't give a good team like that a head start," Salyer said.

The Terps tied the game at 2-all at the 6:37 mark of the second period on the first of Allison Campbell's three goals, but Indiana scored the next two and never trailed.

Maryland closed to within 8-7 on Erkamova's tally with 6:48 to go in the game, but Lauren Wyckoff scored an insurance goal two minutes later

Maryland, which is receiving votes in the most recent national poll, returns home for its four CWPA Southern Division games of the season next weekend. The Terps will play George Washington Friday before facing 18th-ranked Princeton Saturday on Senior Night.

Maryland closes out the weekend Sunday, playing Harvard and Brown.
