COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's water polo team heads to the CWPA Eastern Championship at Indiana University this weekend.

The fourth-seeded Terps (17-13, 4-0) received a first-round bye and will compete in the second round against No. 5 seed Princeton Friday at 3 p.m.

The Terps won both regular season meetings.

"We have take care of business against Princeton (16-10, 3-1) for the third time this season, which is always tough," Maryland head coach Carl Salyer said.

Michigan (30-4) is the top seed followed by Hartwick (25-9) and Indiana (19-11).

The top five seeds in the 11-team field received first-round byes.

The Terps anticipate leading scorer Allison Campbell (50) will assist the Terrapins throughout the weekend.

Junior goalie Shelby Reyes has made 176 blocks throughout the season and the Terps will look for her stability in the net during the upcoming weekend.

Maryland's senior class provided the leadership needed to bring the Terps this far in the season. Ally Beck has 47 goals, which is second on the team, and captain Meghan Powers has racked up 49 points.

"It has been a team effort this season and I'm very excited about that," said Salyer. "The success of the team will be determined if they can continue to play as a team."

Last year, the Terps finished seventh in the CWPA Eastern Championship and had a program-best third-place showing in 2009.

The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAAs.
