COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Michigan's Kiki Golden took the lead during the second quarter of Saturday evening's game, which led to a 9-5 loss for the Terps water polo team at Bucknell Univeristy.
Maryland's Katie Ermakova had an exceptional performance defensively with four steals and plays that kept Maryland alive throughout the game.
"It was a good game for us," Maryland head coach Carly Salyer said after the Michigan (25-4) game. "We battled and we played hard, which allowed us to stay close for a long time."
Ernakova, Christine Goetsch, Meghan Powers, Simone Lewis, and Molly Ruth had a goal apiece for the Terps. Alison Mantel, Meagan Cobb, and Lauren Orth scored twice each for Michigan, as well as Golden, Lauren Colton, and Sarah Roberts with a goal apiece.
The Terps (12-12) will continue the weekend with a game against Indiana (16-11) at 10 a.m. tomorrow and finally finish by playing Bucknell (10-12) at 1 p.m.
