Former Terrapin great Keli Smith worked as a coach on the MTV hit show, Made, last fall with the Phoebus High School (Hampton, Va.) field hockey team. The episode will air Friday, June 24 at 4 p.m.
She worked with the new Phoebus team through the early part of the season last fall. Most of the girls on the team had had never played field hockey, so Smith was asked to work with them on the fundamentals of the game according to an article in the Newport News Daily Press. Smith, a three-time All-American and Olympian, played for the Terrapins from 1997-2000 and was a part of the 1999 national championship team. She has been a member of the U.S. National Team since 2001.
