POSITION TITLE:                   Assistant Director, Development

 

DEPARTMENT:                       Intercollegiate Athletics

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is among the most comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as  the  #2 “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine. The Athletic Program has won 18 national championships over the last 15 years and is a charter member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Currently, 78 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally.  The Development Unit is located in the 440,000 sq. ft. Comcast Center, built in 2002. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Incumbent will be charged with managing and growing a 1,000-member donor roster with a specific focus on membership renewal, giving level upgrades, and gifts for other department projects and priorities.   Other responsibilities will include serving as project manager for development, expansion and implementation of  Terrapin Club Membership Campaign, coordinating Young Alumni programming with a focus on membership growth, managing and growing the Student Terrapin Club, and serving as staff liasion to the Terrapin Club's Membership Committee and managing theTerrapin Club district volunteer program.  Will also assist with the allocation of tickets and parking to members for football and men's basketball program, in coordination with Assistant Athletics Director and Terrapin Ticket Office staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree required.  Minimum three years progressive experience in fundraising, particularly in a collegiate athletics environment.  Experience with an annual fund campaign and volunteer management preferred. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.  Familiarity with Paciolan and PhotoShop preferred.  Excellent writing and customer service skills required.  High energy level and the ability to work athletics events during nights and weekends are required.

 

SALARY:         Commensurate with experience
