POSITION TITLE: Assistant Coach, Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving (Diving Coach)
DEPARTMENT: Intercollegiate Athletics

UNIVERSITY: The University of Maryland is one of the more comprehensive and successful athletic programs in the United States with 27 sports and an annual expense budget of approximately $55 million in the context of a distinguished academic University. The University is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities and is located on a beautiful campus located eight miles north of the nation's capital and near Columbia, Maryland, which was recently listed as the #2 “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine. Currently, 78 of the University's academic programs are ranked in their respective Top 25 nationally. The men's and women's swimming and diving teams practice & compete in one of the premier collegiate athletic aquatic facilities in the country, which hosts international and national championships such as the World Cup Swimming Championship, USA Swimming National Championship, and Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Head Coach for Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving with the organization, development and implementation of a nationally competitive, Division I intercollegiate Varsity Diving program. Specific duties include: Working & Coaching as a team player with in a dynamic coaching staff. Identifying and coordinating recruitment of upper level, Division I student-athletes while using our electronic recruiting database effectively. Coaching; development of seasonal training plans (including water, dry-land and strength & condition), day-to-day on deck coaching; Computer Program Easy Meet & meet management; arranging logistics of team travel; order and manage team equipment needs; administration of team budgets; monitoring academic progress of student-athlete; participating in fund raising and public relations activities; enforcement of team rules; and other responsibilities as assigned by the head coach. Develop and maintain effective interaction with students, colleagues, university staff, alumni and the general public. Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, ACC and University rules and regulations as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes are essential requirements. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Must have 2-3 years demonstrated successful experience in diving at the college or club level. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
