KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Maryland volleyball team concluded its trip to the Comcast Lady Vol Classic with two close five set defeats to Ohio and No. 24 Tennessee on Saturday. Junior Caitlin Adams was named to the Comcast Lady Vol All-Tournament Team.

Over the three matches, Adams totaled 29 kills, 14 digs and 10 blocks, three of which were solo. For Terps with two or more attempts, Adams finished the tournament with a team-high attack percentage of .426.

Against Ohio in the morning session, junior Remy McBain tallied her first triple-double of the season, and the second of her career, with 10 kills, 38 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Sarah Harper set a career mark for digs with 24, and junior Caitlin Adams (13), freshman Ashleigh Crutcher (12) and sophomore Mary Cushman (10) each totaled double digit kills.

Against Tennessee, Crutcher led the way with a double-double recording 12 kills and 17 digs. Harper and freshman Katie Kelley provided solid defense, totaling 18 digs and 14 digs, respectively. Maryland recorded a season-high 83 digs.

The first set was nip and tuck throughout against Ohio, with neither team holding an advantage larger than four points. The Bobcats scored the last three points of the game to take the set.

Ohio held a 10-9 advantage in the second set and the Bobcats scored four of the next five points. The Terps pulled within one point on two occasions at 22-21 and 23-22, but Ohio went on to win the set, 25-23.

Maryland claimed sets three and four. In set three, the Terps scored six straight points to extend their lead to 21-13. Maryland won the third set, 25-16. The Terrapins came from behind in set four. After trailing 13-12, the Terps scored 10 of the next 12 points and won the set, 25-21.

Ohio closed out the match with five straight points to win the fifth game.

The Terps took the first two sets against the ranked Volunteers. With the first game tied at 11-11, the Terps scored the next six points and held off a late Tennessee run to win the set, 25-20. In the second set, the Terrapins broke a 5-5 tie and did not relinquish the lead.

The Volunteers won sets three and four. Following the break, Maryland scored the first six points of the third set. However, Tennessee battled back to tie the score at 24-24. The Terps faced three set points before finally surrendering the set to the Volunteers, 29-27.

Tennessee led the entire way in the fourth set and won 25-22.

The Lady Vols scored 10 of the final 11 points to win the fifth set and the match, 15-5.
