PHILADELPHIA - The top-ranked Maryland field hockey team will play at Temple Monday at 3:30 p.m. at Geasey Field. The Terps (1-0) and the Owls (1-0) were scheduled to play Sunday afternoon, but the weather postponed the game to Monday.
Maryland won its 15th straight season opener Friday, as it beat No. 19 Boston University, 3-1, in Temple's Conference Cup tournament. Senior captain Jemma Buckley (Perth, Australia/John XXIII College) led the Terps with all three of Maryland's goals and her third career hat trick.
The Owls beat Bucknell 4-0 Friday in their opener. Bridget Settles led the Owls with a hat trick and Carissa Young added another goal.
Temple went 9-12 overall in 2010. Maryland owns the all-time series 13-7-2. This is the first meeting between the Terps and the Owls since 2007.
The Terps are ranked No. 1 in the Kookaburra/NFHCA Division I Preseason poll. After Monday's game, they will play at No. 12 Old Dominion Friday at 5 p.m. The Monarchs are 2-0 after beating No. 8 Penn State and No. 10 American this weekend.
