GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Maryland's defending national-championship field hockey team will get a regular-season game broadcast, joining the Terps' men's and women's soccer squads and volleyball team as part of the ACC's fall Olympic-sport broadcast coverage for this season.
Five men's soccer games are part of the regular-season schedule, with one volleyball and one women's soccer game involving Maryland being broadcast.
A rematch of the 2010 NCAA Championship in field hockey featuring Maryland at North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 22 will be shown on ESPN3.com.
In addition, the package includes extensive coverage of ACC tournament play in both soccers and in field hockey.
The league's schedule has 38 televised games, which account for 75 appearances, the highest-ever in the history of ACC Fall Olympic Sports and triples coverage from previous years.
"This is an unprecedented number of fall televised games for the ACC, and I'm confident our exposure will only continue to grow," said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "I appreciate our television partners collaborating together to set a new standard. This line up is a terrific opportunity to showcase the quality of our players, schools and conference as well as giving fans access to more content than ever before."
Highlights of the ACC's upcoming fall schedule include:
** 17 games on ESPN Networks, including six on ESPNU, highlighted by Miami at Florida State volleyball on September 14, which is part of ESPNU's Wednesday Night Volleyball Series, Virginia at North Carolina women's soccer on September 25, and Maryland at North Carolina men's soccer on October 21.
