COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland water polo team is in the midst of its off-season program. A member of the squad will be writing a blog each week as the team gears up for the 2012 season.

The team completed its first week of off-season workouts Thursday.

We conquered our first week of practice, complete with stadiums and wheelbarrow runs! Everyone did an awesome job! Especially the new faces to the team, Zoe Respondek, Rebecca Gerrity, Danielle Robinson and Hailey Smith!!! Keep up the great work ladies!

To top off the week we participated in the Remembrance Walk for the 10th Anniversary of September 11th at the University of Maryland Chapel. We walked for one hour and each of our girls walked in memory of 5 different people who lost their lives that day. It was wonderful to see how many people came out for the walk and how the local community came together on such a special day. Shout out to our SAAC representative, Carly Hoshko and Allison Campbell for putting this together!

We are looking forward to our many more community service events planned for this semester. Including Purple Stride, a walk for pancreatic cancer, on October 9th.
