Playing in her second collegiate tournament, freshman Juliet Vongphoumy finished tied for sixth at the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup played at the Cardinal Club Tuesday. Vongphoumy carded a 4-over 76 in the second round to finish with a 150 (74-76).
Junior Christine Shimel finished tied for 36th after shooting a 155 (76-79). Both senior Jessica Hollandsworth and junior Hayley Brown finished in the top 50. Hollandsworth tallied a 157 (77-80) to place tied for 45th and Brown carded a 158 (81-77) to tie for 49th.
Sophomore Emily Gimpel, competing in her first tournament as a Terp, finished with a 167 (80-87) good for 76th.
N.C. State captured the Cardinal Cup title by firing a 12-over 596 (296-300), and East Carolina's Julia Strandberg edged out N.C. State's Amanda Baker and Louisville's Anna Karin Ljungstrom by one stroke for the individual championship. Strandberg carded a 1-over 145 (75-70).
