COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's soccer team is the No. 2 seed in the ACC tournament and will host No. 7 seed Miami on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. at Ludwig Field.

"Coming in second place in league play is a big accomplishment for our program," said Maryland head coach Jonathan Morgan. "It shows the growth of Maryland women's soccer is still continuing to take place. Although we would have preferred to finish first, having been picked seventh by the leagues' coaches in preseason in what is considered to be the country's best soccer conference says a lot about the character and quality of our program. Moving forward, we now need to focus on our preparation for the ACC tournament."

The Terps earned the No. 2 seed by finishing the conference season with 19 points on a 6-3-1 record. North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest also finished with 6-3-1 marks, but Maryland earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of head-to-head victories over the Tar Heels, Cavaliers and Demon Deacons.

This is just the third time in the program's 26-year history that it has earned the No. 2 seed in the ACC tournament. The previous two occasions were 1999 and 2010.

The Hurricanes finished the conference season with a 4-4-2 record in ACC play for 14 points. Miami qualified for the tournament with a 1-0 victory over No. 1 seed Florida State on the last day of conference play.

Maryland is 11-5-2 overall, while Miami finished the regular season with a 9-6-3 mark.

The game will be a rematch of last Thursday's game in College Park, which saw the Hurricanes upset the Terps, 1-0, in overtime.

The winner of the Maryland-Miami quarterfinal will take on the winner of the match between No. 3 seed Wake Forest and No. 6 seed Duke in the semifinals, which will be held at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., on Nov. 2.

Florida State earned the No. 1 seed and will take on No. 8 seed Boston College. The other quarterfinal in the top half of the bracket has No. 4 seed North Carolina hosting No. 5 seed Virginia.
